HTML에서는

 

Metadata is information about the page that isn’t displayed directly on the web page.

웹페이지에서 직접 보이지는 않는 그 웹페이지에 대한 정보 를 의미한다.

 

꼭 HTML에서만 사용하는 표현은 아니다.

디지털 문서, 디지털 이미지 영역에서도 널리 사용되는 표현이다.

Metadata is structured information that explains, describes, or locates the original primary data, or that otherwise makes using the original primary data more efficient.

메타데이터는 원래의 기본 데이터를 설명하거나 위치시켜주거나, 보다 효율적으로 사용하게 해주는 구조화된 정보이다.

A wide variety of industries use metadata, but for the purposes of digital imaging, there are currently only a few technical structures or schema that are being employed.

다양한 사업 영역에서 메타데이터를 사용하지만, 디지털 이미직의 목적을 위해서는, 겨우 몇 가지 기술 구조나 스키마만이 채용되고 있다.

A schema is a set of properties and their defined meanings, such as the type of value (date, size, URL, or any useful designation).

스키마는 값의 유형 (날짜, 크기, URL 또는 그밖의 유용한 지정) 같은 속성들의 집합과 그것들의 정의된 의미이다.
