코로나 19 확진자 중에는 본인이 자각하는 발열, 기침, 두통 등의 증상이 없는 사람들도 있습니다. 그런 경우 '무증상 확진자' 또는 '무증상자'라고 부르지요? 이와 같이 '증상이 없는','무증상인' 이라는 뜻의 형용사로 asymtomatic를 사용합니다. '증상'이라는 뜻의 명사 symtom에 형용사 형태를 만드는 접미사 '-atic'이 붙어 symtomatic (증상이 있는) 이 되고, 여기에 다시 '~이 없는' 이라는 뜻의 접두사 'a-'가 붙어서 asymtomatic(증상이 없는) 이라는 뜻의 단어가 되었습니다.
