유예기간이란 새로운 법률이나 규칙이 정해졌을 때, 그것의 적용을 일정 시간 미루어 두는 기간을 의미합니다. .너무 갑자기 바뀐 규칙을 적용하게 되면, 벌금이나 벌칙을 받는 등의 불이익이 생기지 않도록 도와주는 것이지요.
또는 경제적으로, 지불기한이 지났지만, 페널티를 주기 전에 주어지는 기간도 유예기간이라고 말합니다. 대출을 회수하거나, 계약을 파기하기 등의 큰 충격이 오기 전에 주는 짧은 기간의 기회이지요.
이를 영어로 말할 때는 grace period라고 합니다. grace 는 '우아함, 기품' 을 뜻하거나 종교적인 의미로 '신의 은총' 이라는 뜻의 단어인데요, 아마도 '손실을 입게 되어 기품을 잃지 않기 위해 두는 기간' 이라는 의미에서 grace period라고 부르는 것이 아닐까요?

South Korea reported 482 new cases of COVID-19 on this Sunday, a decline from recent days but still on the high side.
To bring the number down, the South Korean government has announced some new prevention measures, which include a ban on eating in certain public places like movie theaters.
Kim Dami has the details.
Starting Monday, there'll be a total ban on eating at the kinds of public places like movie theaters and sports arenas that are subject to existing rules such as sitting one seat apart.
Eating had been allowed under levels two and 1.5, which are now in force, but the new rule will ban eating regardless of the level.
Starting this week, the ban will apply at 21 types of places, which also include libraries, museums and kids' cafes. There are exceptions, though for instance, if a museum has a designated area for eating, like a cafe or restaurant.
Violators will be fined a hundred-thousand won, or around 90 U.S. dollars, starting April 5th after a one-week grace period.
On top of the no-eating policy, entry to these places will require a temperature check, and there will be a person in charge of making sure the rules are enforced.
To stop the rise in virus cases, the health authorities have extended the level two social distancing in the Seoul metropolitan area and level 1.5 in the rest of the country until April 11th.
That means still no private gatherings of five or more people, with certain exceptions like pre-wedding gatherings of the bride and groom's families, which can include up to eight people.
