Tokyo announced on Wednesday that it's adopting educational materials for elementary and middle school students that says Dokdo is their territory.

Tokyo on Wednesday announced an education manual renewing claims on Korea's easternmost islets of Dokdo.
The education manual is to be adopted by elementary schools in 2020 and middle schools in 2021.
This comes as the Japanese government approved the first such updated guidelines containing wrongful territorial claims over Dokdo in March.
Protesting against Japan's move, Korea's foreign ministry summoned Katsuro Kitagawa, a minister for political affairs at the Japanese embassy in Seoul.
Through a statement, the ministry condemned Tokyo's "repeated" and "unjustified" action saying the Korean government will respond firmly against any ungrounded territorial claim over Dokdo.
This was also highlighted by Korea's new foreign minister Kang Kyung-wha when she held her first phone conversation with her Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida.
The two sides agreed to work towards building future-oriented relations, but the Korean foreign minister also expressed strong regret over Japan's updated education guidelines and called on Tokyo to immediately halt claiming sovereignty of Korea's easternmost territory.
This is the first time Seoul has protested against Tokyo's Dokdo claim under the Moon administration.
Korean President Moon Jae-in and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had agreed to work towards relations going forward, but Japan's repeated false claims are hindering the two sides from going towards that direction.
