In a pan-governmental meeting on Wednesday, Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun said churches will be prohibited from holding gatherings aside from their regular services and will not be allowed to serve meals. They will also have to keep and manage lists of visitors, like other high-risk facilities do. Failure to do so could result in fines for both the churches and their worshippers.
Sixty-three new cases were confirmed on Wednesday, 30 of which were transmitted locally. Thirty-three were imported, the highest number of imported infections in three months. Eighteen were reported in Gyeonggi-do Province, ten in Seoul and eight in the southwestern city of Gwangju.
Total cases now stand at 13244. There were no additional deaths, leaving the death toll at 285.
